Here’s a look at Vanderbilt’s projected lineup for 2014.

OFFENSE

QB: Johnny McCrary (RSo.): McCrary was the most productive quarterback on Vanderbilt’s roster in 2014. The redshirt freshman was the only Commodores quarterback to throw more touchdowns than interceptions and average more than 100 yards passing per game.

RB: Ralph Webb (RSo.): Webb set the school freshman record for rushing yards with 907 on 212 attempts. The redshirt freshman was ninth in yards per game and eleventh in rushing yards.

FB: Dallas Rivers (So.)

WR1: C.J. Duncan (RSo.): Duncan led all Commodores receivers with 441 yards on 28 catches. The redshirt sophomore tied for a team-best four receiving touchdowns, despite limited targets in a struggling passing attack.

WR2: Latevius Rayford (Jr.)

TE: Steven Scheu (RSr.): Scheu was Vanderbilt’s leading pass catcher. The junior had 525 yards and four touchdowns on 39 receptions, despite instability at quarterback. Scheu should continue his success as a senior and lead a struggling Commodores offense to an improvement in 2015.

LT: Andrew Jelks (RJr.)

LG: Jake Bernstein (RSr.)

C: Barrett Gouger (RJr.)

RG: Spencer Pulley (Sr.)

RT: Will Holden (RJr.)

DEFENSE

DT: Adam Butler (RJr.)

NT: Nifae Lealao (So.)

DT: Caleb Azubike (Sr.)

OLB: Jonathan Wynn (RSo.)

ILB: Zach Cunningham (RSo.)

ILB: Nigel Bowden (RSo.): Bowden was Vanderbilt’s best player in 2014. The redshirt freshman recorded a team-best 78 tackles and averaged 7.1 per game. Bowden should continue his productivity as a sophomore and assume the role of leader on the Commodores defense.

OLB: Stephen Weatherly (RJr.)

CB: Taurean Ferguson (RSo.)

CB: Torren McGaster (RJr.): McGaster tied for a team-best two interceptions and was third in tackles (66). Like Bowden, McGaster should assume the role of leader and continue his development with gained experience.

SS: Jahmel McIntosh (RSr.)

FS: Oren Burks (RSo.)

Nickel: Donovan Sheffield (Fr.): Sheffield is the top prospect in Vanderbilt’s 2015 recruiting class. The four-star cornerback ranks as the No. 285 overall prospect and No. 25 cornerback for the 2015 class.

P: Colby Cooke (RJr.)

K: Tommy Openshaw (RSo.)

KR: Darrius Sims (Jr.): Sims was one of the SEC’s top kick returners in 2014. The sophomore led the SEC with 760 kick return yards and two touchdowns. Sims added 33 yards on six punt returns.

PR: Trey Ellis (So.)
