It’s no secret in the world of college football recruiting, great players want to play with other great players and often follow one another in joining the same programs. Recent Alabama quarterback commit Mac Jones, who flipped his commitment from Kentucky, is no exception and has been working hard to sell the Tide to his fellow prospects.

As a participant of Atlanta’s Rival Camp Series last weekend, Jones had the opportunity to sell Alabama to a number of the South’s top recruits.

Among the prospects Jones had his eye on over the weekend were a trio of four-star receivers: Devonta Smith, the nation’s No. 3 receiver prospect according to 247Sports, Jerry Jeudy, the nation’s No. 4 receiver prospect according to 247Sports and Henry Ruggs, the nation’s No. 20 receiver prospect according to 247Sports.

“I was with a lot of those guys this weekend at the Rivals deal,” Jones said according to Drew Chaplin of AL.com. “Wide receiver-wise, Jerry Jeudy, Devonta Smith and Henry Ruggs were the big ones. I threw with them like every time I went up there. We really clicked every time on and off the field.

“Smitty did really good at the Rivals camp. Jeudy, a south Florida kid, is really quick and I’d love to be throwing to him. Henry Ruggs is like Smith and really quick, too. Any of those guys would be good at Alabama and I’d like to have all of them (join Alabama’s latest recruiting class).”

Jones may have even swayed top offensive tackle prospect Walker Little into taking a visit to Tuscaloosa.

“He wasn’t really excited about Alabama or anything like that, but once he got to meet me, he was like, ‘Oh I want to take a visit, get out there with you and maybe we’ll play together in college,'” Jones said. “I think me and Walker bonded together the best. I spent a lot of time with him on and off the field.”

Little is also a four-star prospect and ranked as the No. 12 offensive tackle in the nation by 247Sports.

Who would have thought a week ago that Kentucky’s top commit would be working so hard to help Alabama land yet another No. 1 overall recruiting class just a few days later?
