Former Alabama LB Reggie Ragland hasn’t had a break in about a year.

Since starting his senior season at Alabama last fall, the Buffalo Bills rookie has been working hard.

It’s been a hectic stretch for the 22-year-old second-round pick, according to AL.com:

“The last time I had a break was probably a few days before our camp started at Alabama last year,” Ragland said during a Thursday night appearance on “The John Murphy Show” on Buffalo Bills Radio. “After camp started at Alabama, we went all the way through the season and then won the national championship. A couple of days later, I know I had to go to the Walter Camp banquet, but after that, I started working out, and a couple of days after I started working out, I had to go to the Senior Bowl and — wow — there it went.”

Though he’ll take a brief rest before training camp starts at the end of July, Ragland said he’ll still be putting in the work that’s necessary to become a successful NFL player:

“This is the most important time for football players, especially in the NFL,” Ragland said. “During the break, the guys who are going to stay disciplined are the ones that are normally successful during the season. So you’ve got to stay disciplined, get the extra cardio in, make sure you’re ready for the conditioning test. Because when training camp comes, the next thing you know, a couple of weeks of training camp you’re right into the preseason, and once the preseason’s over, there goes the season.”

Ragland hopes to be a three-down linebacker as a rookie, so conditioning will be crucial for the two-time national champion.
