Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long doesn’t expect for there to be any problem with him staying objective as a member of the College Football Playoff committee while evaluating Louisville.

Long has a history with Louisville head coach Bobby Petrino, who occupied the same role at Arkansas from 2008-11. Petrino was fired in 2012 after a motorcycle accident revealed that he had hired his mistress to a position in the athletic department, something he had lied to Long about.

Despite the incident, Long says he doesn’t plan to recuse himself from any CFP discussions regarding Louisville, according to WholeHogSports.

“No, there’s no reason for me to recuse myself,” Long said. “I think Louisville is a fine football program, and they [have] demonstrated that after three weeks of the season. We’ve got six more weeks before we rank a group of teams.”

No. 3 Louisville is off to a blistering 3-0 start this season and is fresh off of an impressive 63-20 win over Florida State.
