Could reported Arkansas AD hire spark connection to Lane Kiffin?
Arkansas may have just made a move to get itself closer to Lane Kiffin — if it wants to be.
The Razorbacks’ hiring of Hunter Yurachek as athletic director on Monday apparently provides a close connection with the Florida Atlantic coach.
Yurachek, who served as Houston’s athletic director before stepping into the same role at Arkansas, reportedly nearly hired Kiffin last year as the Cougars head coach before it was nixed by the school’s board of regents.
Dan Wolken of USA TODAY Sports wrote this piece just about a year ago detailing Houston’s intention to bring Kiffin aboard.
At the time, it seemed Kiffin to Houston was close to a done deal — and Yurachek had plenty to do with that.
Could he make a similar move to get Kiffin to Fayetteville? And, would Arkansas’ top officials sign off on it?
That remains to be seen, but it certainly seems like an interesting possibility as of Monday.
