When Roc Thomas left Auburn in late May, he was looking for playing time.

He’ll get to play this fall at Jacksonville State, and his new coach John Grass has high praise for the former Tigers ball-carrier. If the Gamecocks make it back to the FCS title game, expect Thomas to play a big part in that campaign.

“The running back position was a spot that you were concerned with because how do you replace (Troymaine) Pope and (Miles) Jones,” Grass told AL.com. “Well, then you get a transfer like Roc Thomas. He is a talented guy that will fit in well for us. I love how Roc handles his business on and off the field and he is a class act.”

Thomas played in Auburn’s game against Jacksonville State last year, a 27-20 overtime squeaker for AU. He recorded 22 yards on eight carries.
