The Florida Gators haven’t been having the best offseason, and have been in the news for a lot of the wrong reasons recently.

This week, former CB signee Chris Steele transferred to Oregon — a decision that may have been made in part because he wasn’t allowed to change roommates back in January. His roommate, Jalon Jones, was then accused of two sexual assaults in April. Jones has also since entered the NCAA transfer portal, though legal charges are still pending.

On Wednesday evening, coach Dan Mullen spoke with reporters, and he said Florida suspended Jones when reports came out about the sexual assaults following the Gators’ spring game:

Mullen also commented on Steele’s transfer, saying he and his wife went to California to talk with the freshman cornerback:

Steele ultimately decided to move on to Oregon, but Mullen says he still supports the former Gator. Still, this was an ugly situation for Florida, so Mullen needs to turn things around in the coming months.
