EJ Smith, the son of Florida Gators legend Emmitt Smith, has made his plans to be in The Swamp this fall. The high-profile legacy running back told 247Sports’ Blake Alderman he will be in Gainesville the weekend of Oct. 5 when UF hosts Auburn, which has also been designated Florida’s homecoming weekend.

A 4-star all-purpose back recruit, EJ named Florida to his final five, along with Georgia, Texas A&M, Stanford and Ohio State, this summer. Dan Mullen does not currently have a running back pledge in the 2020 class.

There are hints that UF may be planning something special for the Auburn game. Earlier this month, the Gators Uniform Tracker Twitter account (not an official team account) noted that the tickets sent to season-ticket holders gave no indication as to what uniform combo the Gators would wear against Auburn. For all other games, a uniform preview was shown (as was also the case last season). This has led to fan speculation that Florida might go with a throwback or alternate-color uniform combo for the game.

Emmitt is prominently featured in Florida’s newly renovated locker room, something that may impress EJ during his visit.
