Harrison Bailey is about to be a high school freshman this fall. When it’s time for him to become a college freshman, he’ll have the option of attending school at Florida.

The Gators extended a scholarship offer to the class of 2020 prospect after watching him at an Atlanta satellite camp, according to Rivals.com’s Woody Womack. UF joins North Carolina and Miami as other schools to get in early on Bailey’s recruitment. Womack notes that Georgia declined to offer after watching Bailey work out recently.

UF coach Jim McElwain has made quarterback depth a priority since he was hired in December 2014 and inherited a roster with only two scholarship signal-callers. He signed two transfer quarterbacks (Josh Grady and Luke Del Rio) prior to the 2015 season, adding graduate transfer Austin Appleby and early enrollees Feleipe Franks and Kyle Trask for 2016.

Four-star recruit Jake Allen is pledged for the 2017 class and five-star 2018 pro-style prospect Trevor Lawrence, the top recruit of that class, recently placed Florida in his top three.
