Freshman Georgia RB Elijah Holyfield suffered an ankle injury in Saturday’s practice. On Monday, his famous father, boxing great Evander Holyfield, tweeted about the injury:

Details of the injury, including the severity, are not yet known.

The injury bug has been particularly rough on UGA running backs. Nick Chubb, the Bulldogs’ top ball-carrier, is coming off a season-ending knee injury. Sony Michel, Chubb’s backup, is recovering from a breaking his arm earlier this offseason.

Update:

UGA coach Kirby Smart discussed the injury in a Monday evening radio interview, per The Athens Banner-Herald.

“It’s not a major ankle (injury), it’s not a high ankle. It’s not as bad as (tight end) Charlie Woerner’s was,” Smart told 960 The Ref. “We think he’ll be back by the end of the week. He’s out there pushing on it right now. It’s not a major deal.”
