A year after transitioning from Mark Richt to Kirby Smart, all has been mostly quiet on the Georgia coaching front.

On Tuesday, the Bulldogs and defensive line coach Tracy Rocker decided to part ways, leaving linebackers coach Kevin Sherrer as the only holdover from Richt’s staff.

Georgia announced on Wednesday that Ole Miss defensive line coach Tray Scott would be joining Smart’s staff in the same capacity. Scott joined the Rebels this offseason after spending last year coaching the defensive line at North Carolina. He left Ole Miss without ever coaching a game.

According to Jason Butt of The Telegraph, Scott will earn a base salary of $325,000 at Georgia. This information was learned via a personnel report through Georgia’s Open Records Act.

Scott’s salary will save the Bulldogs $200,000, as they would have owed Rocker $525,000 as a base salary next season. The new defensive line coach may have taken a pay cut to join Georgia’s staff, as he was reportedly set to make $375,000 at Ole Miss.
