Report: Georgia decides not to accept NIT invitation, ending 2018 season
The Georgia Bulldogs won’t be going to March Madness, and now they are in the market for a new head coach, as well, after Mark Fox was fired on Saturday.
However, an NIT berth was still a distinct possibility for star F Yante Maten and the Dawgs. Now, though, that’s not going to happen.
According to Fox, the team decided to decline an NIT invitation, ending their 2018 season and Maten’s incredible Georgia career:
Mark Fox said players have decided to decline an NIT invite. Georgia's season is over.

Mark Fox said the team elected not to take part in the NIT…Fox said he would cosuch, but team did not want to play.

Though it’s disappointing that Maten won’t get to suit up for the Dawgs again, playing in a tournament without a coach (even though Fox said he’d stick with them) isn’t easy.
The Dawgs will now head into offseason mode, where finding a new coach for the program will be the most important task.
