Louisville coach Bobby Petrino isn’t used to sharing his turf with fans of another team.

While he was at Arkansas, he didn’t have much competition for fandom in the state. However, when he took the Louisville job, he discovered the city has plenty of Kentucky fans, too.

Ahead of Saturday’s Louisville-Kentucky rivalry game, Petrino said he used to tell his kids to egg Kentucky fans’ houses in his neighborhood, according to KentuckySportsRadio.com:

“Ever since the first time I’ve been here, it’s been an unique place for me because you actually have people in your neighborhood that are Kentucky fans. When I first got here, I thought, ‘Man this is really weird.’ It used to upset me, I’d get mad and tell my kids to go egg their windows, whatever.”

Petrino quickly came clean, admitting his previous statement was simply a joke and Kentucky fans’ houses were spared a messy cleanup:

“Actually, I didn’t tell them that, but I wanted to.”

Kentucky and Louisville square off in Louisville on Saturday at noon Eastern time. The game can be seen on ESPN.
