Plenty of names have been linked to the LSU head coaching position — Houston’s Tom Herman, Florida State’s Jimbo Fisher, Louisville’s Bobby Petrino and a host of other top college coaches.

LSU AD Joe Alleva, however, isn’t ready to reveal his preference for the position. In an interview with The Advocate, Alleva said he finds the speculation about the coaching position funny:

I’m looking and doing my due diligence on a lot of people. I think it’s hysterical how everyone is predicting who the next coach will be. I find that comical. Coaches at other schools could be coaching into January, so you don’t know how that’s all going to play out.

Alleva added that running the LSU football program is similar to running a business, and the next coach will need to have a manager’s attitude:

I’m looking for someone who’s a good fit for LSU. I’m looking for someone that’s a proven winner, someone that can lead this program.

You’ve got to be able to recruit. You’ve got to be able to motivate. You’ve got to be able to lead. You’ve got to deal with media. You’ve got to deal with alumni and fans. You’re basically a CEO.

Alleva danced around the question of interim coach Ed Orgeron’s chances of landing the position, saying there’s still a lot of time left in the 2016 season to evaluate all potential hires.
