Leonard Fournette is officially listed at 6-foot-1 and 235-pounds, although that may not be accurate considering Fournette said he was out of shape this weekend after sitting out the last couple of games for LSU. Either way, it’s safe to say No. 7 is rather large for a college running back.

As special a player as Fournette may be, considering his frame and the number of elite athletes on the LSU roster, it could be considered a surprise to find out the running back is the fastest player on the team. It may be time to stop questioning the amazing feats of Fournette…

According to Baton Rouge WAFB sports anchor Jacques Doucet, no player registered a faster time against Ole Miss than Fournette’s top speed of 22.9 miles per hour.

Keeping in mind Jackson runs for LSU’s track and field team and has registered a 6.63 second 60 meters run last spring, the fact that Fournette may be faster, while at the same time still working toward full health, is mind blowing.

It’s likely going to take all of Fournette’s speed to get around the edge and down the field on Alabama’s defense in two weeks, but if there’s any one player in college football that stands a chance, it’s Fournette. Last season’s game against Alabama cost No. 7 his shot at the Heisman Trophy, this season the game presents an opportunity for Fournette to seize control of the race for the coveted trophy in 2016.
