After starting for LSU as a true sophomore in 2014, former QB Anthony Jennings only appeared in two games in 2015 and didn’t record any statistics.

Because of that lost 2015 season, he transferred to Louisiana-Lafayette, where he starred for the Ragin’ Cajuns in 2016.

However, while trying to argue that he should get a fifth season of eligibility after being used sparingly in his disappointing 2015 season, the NCAA ruled against the former Tiger, effectively ending his college career:

“I’m very disappointed for Anthony,” Cajun coach Mark Hudspeth told the Daily Advertiser via text message on Sunday night. I would’ve loved to have seen what he could’ve done with a year under his belt in our system. I wanted to wish him the best for the future and thank him for his time here as a Ragin’ Cajun. He has been a class act.”

Jennings finished the 2016 season with 2,178 passing yards and 11 touchdowns (to go with 13 interceptions), while also adding nine scores on the ground to lead the Cajuns to a bowl appearance.

The Cajuns finished 6-7 and lost 28-21 to Southern Mississippi in the New Orleans Bowl.
