Arizona had the worst season in the NFL in 2018 and 2019 is already off to a tough start.

That’s because the NFL has reportedly decided to suspend the team’s Pro Bowl cornerback Patrick Peterson for six games, according to ESPN’s NFL insider Adam Schefter. Missing six games will cost Peterson $3,882,352 as he will not be paid during his suspension.

Schefter is reporting that Peterson’s suspension comes after he violated the NFL’s performance-enhancing drug policy.

“Cardinals’ CB Patrick Peterson now will miss the first six games: Arizona’s regular-season opener vs. the Lions, then games at Baltimore, at home against the Panthers and Seahawks, at Cincinnati and at home against the Falcons,” Schefter tweeted on Thursday.

In Peterson’s eight NFL seasons, he has never missed a single game for the Cardinals, appearing in all 128 games of his career. Peterson was the fifth overall selection in the 2011 NFL Draft out of LSU.

UPDATE: The NFL and Arizona have both confirmed news of Peterson’s suspension.
