Just take one look at any “biggest candidates for the LSU job” list, and you’ll find Houston’s Tom Herman near the top.

In fact, he’ll be near the top for most every head coaching vacancy in the country, and he’s put Houston back on the map during his short tenure that started in 2015. Herman was also a hot candidate for the South Carolina job when Steve Spurrier stepped down last year, but Herman ended up staying at Houston.

Earlier today, Scout.com reported that Herman’s agent had been contacted by LSU about the vacancy, but he denied those reports Sunday night in the video above.

USA Today’s Dan Wolken reported that many believe that Herman has had his eyes set on the LSU job for a bit now.

The obvious play for LSU, it would seem, is to pursue Houston coach Tom Herman. Many in the coaching profession believe Herman, of all the jobs he could take, has had his eye on LSU for a while.

It will be interesting to watch this unfold.
