Photo: Pair of elite LB prospects visiting LSU this weekend
LSU has boasted some of the SEC’s top defensive players in recent years, including several standout linebackers.
The Tigers’ upcoming recruiting class, however, is a bit short on linebacker prospects. LSU hopes that a good impression this weekend will sway a pair of top-end linebackers, which would give it a fearful trio at the position.
Jacob Phillips, who is on an unofficial visit, and Willie Gay, who is on an official visit, would make for quite the pair of 4-star prospects in LSU colors.

Shown with current LSU commit Patrick Queen, Gay and Phillips would turn linebacker into a major strength for the Tigers’ Class of 2017.
Phillips is currently committed to Oklahoma, but the 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions give LSU a 44 percent chance of signing the nation’s top inside linebacker prospect. Gay, the nation’s No. 3 outside linebacker prospect, is predicted to sign with the Tigers by 46 percent of the Crystal Ball experts.
