Senior Day is always a special day for all players around the nation but Nick Fitzgerald’s moment just became all the more memorable down in Starkville.

The program’s three-year starter at quarterback just became the program’s all-time leader in career rushing touchdowns by scoring the first touchdown of the Arkansas game. The score was Fitzgerald’s 43rd rushing score of his MSU career. The previous record holder was Bulldog great, Anthony Dixon. Dixon starred at running back for Mississippi State from 2006 to 2009.

Fitzgerald’s latest touchdown also helped him to become only the third player in SEC history to have 10 or more passing touchdown and 10 or more rushing touchdowns for three consecutive seasons. The Mississippi State QB joins Dak Prescott and Tim Tebow on that exclusive list.

While all the individual accolades are great, the main job of the quarterback is to lead his team to victory and so far so good for Fitzgerald there, too. Mississippi State leads Arkansas 10-0 in the second half following Fitzgerald’s score.
