Mississippi State QB Nick Fitzgerald wasn’t sure what to expect when meeting Archie and Eli Manning, both Ole Miss royalty. After a 55-20 Bulldog thumping of the Rebels last November, he wasn’t sure if he would be receiving an invitation to the Manning Passing Academy.

“I honestly didn’t even know if I would catch the invite after the Egg Bowl. I definitely didn’t know how nice or how hostile it would be,” he said Friday at a press conference, per NOLA.com. “They’ve been awesome. Some back and forth a little bit, some playful banter. It’s definitely been a good time. They treat us well.”

Rivalry aside, Fitzgerald looks forward to learning from a family of legendary quarterbacks.

“Definitely acting like a sponge,” Fitzgerald said of his camp experience. “Anything and everything they say or do, I just try to watch and listen and learn anything I possibly can from this. They’re incredible quarterbacks and an incredible family and they’re putting on a great camp so I’m enjoying it.”
