It’s been a rough start to the season for the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

Sitting at 2-4 midway through their schedule, the Bulldogs are likely looking for options that can help the team next year at this point.

One of those players who figures to have an impact beyond 2016 is sophomore QB Nick Fitzgerald.

So far this year, Fitzgerald has thrown for 998 yards, eight touchdowns and four interceptions. He’s added 431 yards and four touchdowns on the ground.

Speaking with reporters on Tuesday, Fitzgerald said he’s feeling more comfortable with the Mississippi State offense:

“I think I have a lot better feel in the pocket and how much time I have to make my reads,” he said. “Every week, I’m just trying to get better. I’m hoping that, going forward, it’ll keep getting better and better.”

The Bulldogs travel to Kentucky on Saturday to take on the Wildcats. Fitzgerald will need to have a big game to pull off a victory on the road.
