In the 21-0 win for the Gold (Offense) over the Black (Defense), the Missouri offense had its issues, but did manage to find the end zone, which wasn’t all that common last season.

First-year coach Barry Odom and his offensive coordinator Josh Heupel tried to inject some excitement into the offense on the first play of the Black and Gold Game by calling a flea flicker. The play resulted in a sack, which is hopefully not an omen for the 2016 Tigers.

After a scoreless first quarter, sophomore QB Drew Lock found WR Richaud Floyd for a four-yard touchdown pass, capping a 15-play, 80-yard scoring drive. Lock’s Gold team would go to the half up 7-0.

To open the second half, Lock connected with J’Mon Moore, who burned CB John Gibson, for a 64-yard scoring play. Lock, who has not yet been named the starter, finished 9-of-12 for 138 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions.

Missouri’s other scoring drive was led by QB Marvin Zanders. The sophomore quarterback ended a 77-yard drive, in which he went a perfect 6-for-6 passing, with a 20-yard touchdown throw to Justin Smith. The 6-foot-7 wideout had a notable advantage on the jumpball in the end zone.

The Tigers were dealt a scare on defense when DE Walter Brady left the game due to injury. He was later spotted on the sidelines with a brace on his leg. Odom told reporters Brady is fine and has a favorable prognosis.
