Many NFL Draft experts believe former Ole Miss DL Robert Nkemdiche’s stock for next month’s NFL Draft has dropped due to character concerns.

And, if true, who could blame the teams that are looking to invest millions in a potential early-round pick?

In December, Nkemdiche made national headlines for his jump from a Georgia hotel room while under the influence of drugs.

His brother, Denzel, made headlines of his own last season for missing time due to his reported stay in an intensive care unit that caused him to miss football games.

Both players were ultimately removed from the Rebels roster before the team’s season-ending Sugar Bowl victory.

Some experts have connected Robert’s relationship with his brother as a potential hindrance to his success as an NFL player.

According to Rebels247, Robert has a plan for alleviating those concerns for NFL teams that may be considering claiming him in the early moments of the draft.

“Me and Denzel and the family have come to a point where we’re going to be separated for the beginning of my career,” he said. “We’re going to keep football where football needs to be and handle that.”

The site reports that Robert said his brother was doing well and “keeping his nose clean.”

“It’s not really tough because we’re at a point in our lives where we’re grown up. We have to understand the situations and some things have to happen. It’s tough love. I’m always going to be there for him, it’s not like he’s not going to come to no games or it’s not like I’m not going to see him.”

It is a mature approach for Nkemdiche, and one that may prevent one of the most naturally gifted players in the class from sliding too far in April.
