It took all day, but Van Jefferson has made up his mind. After delaying his announcement several times on National Signing Day, the four-star receiver ended a tense few days and stuck with his verbal commitment to Ole Miss.

In the final days of the recruitment process, there was concern that the Rebels might lose out on Jefferson, the No. 11 receiver in the nation. Jefferson committed to Ole Miss in late January after taking his official visit, flipping from Georgia, but the Bulldogs remained alive to land the 6-foot-2 pass catcher. Michigan also crept into the picture, with Jefferson taking an official visit to Ann Arbor in the last week.

With the signing, Jefferson puts a stop to a string of misses for Ole Miss on NSD. The Rebels lost touted offensive tackle Drew Richmond to Tennessee, while No. 1 inside linebacker Leo Lewis eliminated Ole Miss and chose Mississippi State.

Jefferson joins fellow four-star receiver DaMarkus Lodge, who committed to the Rebels earlier in the afternoon. The Memphis native has the skills to play both out wide and in the slot. Scouts say Jefferson is already an excellent route runner, with the speed to turn short passes into big gains in a flash. He should be an excellent fit in Hugh Freeze’s spread offense.
