For Auburn defensive coordinator Kevin Steele, the replay officials’ decision to overturn LSU’s last-second touchdown was welcomed news to say the least.

But the change in the call might have cost his former colleague a job, as LSU coach Les Miles was fired Sunday. Steele told reporters he philosophically doesn’t agree with LSU’s decision.

“It is a personal thing – from a philosophical standpoint I will say this: this is an education business at the end of the day,” Steele said on Sunday, per Auburn Undercover. “We have 18- to 22-year-olds at an educational institution and we’re teachers at the end of the day and because of that, at this time in the process and everybody, they do what they want to do. But philosophically, personally I just don’t believe in it.”

Steele joined Auburn this season after one season at LSU. He wished Miles the best from the Plains.

“My thoughts and prayers are with he and his family,” Steele said. “They were very good to my family.”
