South Carolina’s 2017 recruiting class took a big hit Friday as four-star junior college prospect Stephen Guidry announced his decommitment from the Gamecocks via his Twitter account.

The 6-foot-4, 190-pound Guidry is currently rated as the No. 1 JUCO receiver in the country by 247Sports and the No. 4 overall JUCO prospect in the nation for 2017.

While the Gamecocks lost a big time offensive commit Friday, Guidry’s closing hashtag would seem to suggest South Carolina still has a chance of ultimately signing him down the road. Considering the lack of playmakers on the roster in Columbia, immediate impactful playing time will be something Will Muschamp and company will continue to be able to sell to Guidry.

Following Guidry’s decommitment, the Gamecocks now have six prospects committed to Muschamp’s first full recruiting class in Columbia.
