After South Carolina held on for a 15-9 victory against Tennessee on Saturday afternoon, Vols QB Jarrett Guarantano was dejected.

As he sat on the field in the immediate aftermath of the loss, though, South Carolina QB Jake Bentley hustled over to him to console him.

As you can see in the video below, it was a classy gesture by the sophomore quarterback toward Guarantano, who was making his first-career start:

According to a story by reporter Will Sammon, who was then with OANow.com, Saturday wasn’t the first time Bentley showed such great sportsmanship.

Bentley also showed his class after a high school game against Central in 2015, when he comforted a star player on the other team after a big win:

“I just told him to go win a state title,” Bentley said. “They have a heck of a football team and they’re probably going to be the number one team to come out of the south. I just told him to keep those heads up because this game could have gone either way.”

College sports are better off for having players like Bentley around, especially in the wake of recent scandals that have cast a pall over the NCAA.

Here’s hoping Bentley continues to be gracious in victory for the rest of his South Carolina career.
