In football, you never want to give your opponent any extra motivation or bulletin-board material.

Yet, that’s exactly what Vanderbilt RB Ralph Webb did this summer when he guaranteed a Commodore victory over South Carolina in the Week 1 matchup in Nashville.

South Carolina redshirt senior LB T.J. Holloman, one of the Gamecock captains on Thursday night, remembered those words and brought them up in the postgame press conference after his team’s 13-10 come-from-behind victory:

Webb did run for 97 yards on 20 carries, but failed to find the end zone against the tough South Carolina defense.

South Carolina will travel to Starkville to take on Mississippi State next Saturday.
