In what has become a weekly segment, Will Muschamp sat down this week to break down film of South Carolina’s upcoming opponent. That opponent, of course, being Vanderbilt with the Gamecocks headed to Nashville looking for their first conference win of the season.

In the segment, Muschamp has identified a few standout areas of Vanderbilt’s team this season, starting with the offensive line. According to the Gamecock coach, Vanderbilt’s line has done an outstanding job of getting to the second level of defenses this year, which opens things up dramatically for the team’s running backs.

Of course, you can’t discuss Vanderbilt’s offense without mentioning senior quarterback Kyle Shurmur. By studying the film, Muschamp has come away impressed with Shurmur’s ability to read a defense.

“We aren’t going to fool this guy, he is a good football player. He knows where to take the ball. He understands their offense,” Muschamp noted in the segment.

The defensive-minded coach also took a long look at Vanderbilt’s defense and praised that side of the ball entering his team’s trip to Nashville. Muschamp mentioned Derek Mason’s unit is a “very aggressive unit, they have seven senior starters,” in the video.
