With the ball at the one-yard line against Florida on Saturday, the Tennessee Volunteers didn’t run it with RB John Kelly, and they didn’t even attempt a QB sneak, instead watching as Quinten Dormady threw an interception to Gators CB Duke Dawson.

On Monday, coach Butch Jones attempted to explain the sequence, saying the first-down play was changed from a run to a pass at the line of scrimmage.

He added that Dormady’s ankle was not 100 percent, so he didn’t want to call a QB sneak with him in the game and didn’t want to put backup QB Jarrett Guarantano in, either, because he hadn’t practiced under-center snaps.

It didn’t take long after the press conference for one fan to poke holes in Jones’s explanation, as he tweeted out four photos of Guarantano taking under-center snaps:

The one in the bottom-right corner was from the Vols’ game against Indiana State in Week 2, so it’s fair to question what Jones meant by his comment.

Maybe he’ll carve out some extra time for Guarantano to take some under-center snaps this week, but it appears the Tennessee backup already has some experience in that area.
