Missouri looks to be peaking heading into Neyland Stadium this weekend but the same could be said for Jeremy Pruitt’s first Tennessee team. In addition to winning two games in a row for only the second time this season, the Vols look to have a full secondary in anticipation for the team’s showdown against Drew Lock and the Mizzou passing game.

That news comes via Pruitt, who announced that freshman safety Trevon Flowers and freshman cornerback Bryce Thompson are expected to play on Saturday.

“Trevon practiced every day last week. We just decided on Saturday to give him one more week. Bryce has practiced every day this week, so those guys I would expect to be ready to go,” Pruitt said following Wednesday’s practice.

Flowers broke his collarbone in practice during the team’s bye week while Thompson suffered a head injury during the Kentucky game. Both players are in their first year in the program and playing new positions at the collegiate level. Flowers, most known for his high school baseball career, and Thompson was a standout receiver in high school.

Despite their relative inexperience, the two freshmen have shown significant promise their first year on campus.

It’s unclear how large of a role either will play in the home finale against Missouri but having them back should give Pruitt and his defense plenty of options going up against one of the more balanced offenses in the league. The Tigers are averaging just over 26 points per game in conference play this season.

Tennessee is one win away from making the postseason, as the Vols are 5-5 on the season, while Missouri is 6-4 this year.
