What Frank Martin said about Tennessee after another loss to the No. 1 Vols
A couple of weeks after blowing out the South Carolina Gamecocks in Columbia, the No. 1 Tennessee Volunteers picked up another win over the Gamecocks on Wednesday night in Knoxville.
This game was a little closer, finishing as an 85-73 victory for the Vols, but Rick Barnes’s team controlled the game from pretty much the opening tip to the final buzzer.
After the game, South Carolina coach Frank Martin spoke with the media and recapped another loss to the nation’s top team.
Here’s what he had to say about Tennessee:
On matchup problems for the Gamecocks:
South Carolina coach Frank Martin: We made some shots tonight, but we have no answer for the point guard (Bone) and the small forward (Schofield). They’re a bad matchup for us. They’re a bad matchup for everybody.

On the Vols’ balanced attack:
Frank Martin on Tennessee: "You have to pick your poison with them. They're balanced."

Frank Martin: "People asked me when I had teams as balanced as this Tennessee team, 'Who's your go-to guy?' I say, 'We've got a go-to team.' And that's what they got here."

On the Vols’ experienced roster:
South Carolina coach Frank Martin on the #Vols: Those guys are old. Those guys are old. They know how to play the game. They have answers.

On Grant Williams’ willingness to do whatever it takes:
Frank Martin on the #Vols: Those guys play hard. They screen. They all screen. Grant Williams is the best player in this league, and when Rick tells him to screen, he screens. And he don’t miss.
