The SEC baseball season is winding down. While there’s a competitive race for the SEC regular-season title, focus is shifting to which teams will be playing postseason ball.

There are two more weekends of regular-season play before the top 12 teams in the conference standings take part in the SEC Tournament in Hoover, Alabama.

Current standings have Mizzou (7-17 SEC) and Auburn (4-20 SEC) missing the conference tournaments. Of the remaining 12 teams, 10 are projected to make the NCAA Tournament, with one other just outside the top 64.

Here’s a look at the latest projections from D1Baseball and Baseball America:

Kentucky: 35-10 overall (18-6 SEC)

It’s Cats on top right now. With a series win over Arkansas, UK took sole leadership of the top spot in the SEC standings.

Kentucky isn’t currently ranked No. 1 in the polls, but with the No. 2 RPI and a 1-game lead over Arkansas and Tennessee for the regular-season SEC title, it’s UK projected as the No. 1 national seed.

For Super Regional purposes, D1Baseball has the Lexington Regional paired with the Columbia Regional, hosted by South Carolina. Baseball America pairs Lexington with Santa Barbara, hosted by UC Santa Barbara.

D1Baseball: No. 1 national seed, Regional host
Baseball America: No. 1 national seed, Regional host

Texas A&M: 41-8 (16-8)

Texas A&M has college baseball’s No. 1 RPI. The Aggies, though, currently have the fourth-best record in SEC play.

Both D1Baseball and Baseball America settled on the No. 2 national seed for TAMU in the latest NCAA Tournament projections. The projections have the College Station Regional paired with Santa Barbara (D1) and Durham (BA).

D1: No. 2 national seed, Regional host
BA: No. 2 national seed, Regional host

Tennessee: 40-9 (17-7)

The Vols are cruising along. UT has a two-game winning streak going, getting up to 40 wins on the season.

Along with Arkansas, Tennessee is just 1 game behind Kentucky in the race for the SEC regular-season title. Tony Vitello’s squad has the No. 8 RPI. The latest NCAA Tournament projections have UT safely in the top-8 range to host a potential Super Regional.

Projections have the Knoxville Regional paired with Athens (D1) and Terre Haute (BA).

D1: No. 3 national seed, Regional host
BA: No. 4 national seed, Regional host

Arkansas: 40-9 (17-7)

The Razorbacks are 1 game off the SEC lead for the regular-season title but still sit atop the SEC West.

Dave Van Horn’s team has the No. 3 RPI and is already part of the 40-win club. The Hogs are being projected top-8, but it feels like there is an opportunity to move up even further.

Projections pair the Fayetteville Regional with Starkville (D1) and Charlottesville (BA).

D1: No. 5 national seed, Regional host
BA: No. 6 national seed, Regional host

Georgia: 35-12 (13-11)

A week ago, Georgia was not projected to host an NCAA Regional. Things have changed, though, as the Bulldogs have become one of college baseball’s hottest teams, winning 5 straight.

Above .500 in SEC play and No. 5 in RPI, Georgia is now a projected NCAA Regional host. The Dawgs, though, are outside the top-8 for Super Regional purposes. Projections have an Athens Regional paired with Knoxville and Clemson.

D1: No. 14 national seed, Regional host
BA: No. 14 national seed, Regional host

South Carolina: 33-15 (13-11)

The Gamecocks have won their last 2 games, a rubber game at Mizzou and a midweek contest with Winthrop.

South Carolina is still a projected NCAA Regional host with a No. 13 RPI. D1 has South Carolina as the No. 16 national seed, paired with the Lexington Regional. BA has South Carolina a bit higher at No. 12 and paired with Chapel Hill.

D1: No. 16 national seed, Regional host
BA: No. 12 national seed, Regional host

Mississippi State: 32-16 (14-10)

MSU has the leading publications divided as an above-.500 SEC team (14-10) with a No. 19 RPI.

D1 has Mississippi State as the No. 12 national seed, pairing a Starkville Regional with Fayetteville. BA, on the other hand, has the Bulldogs traveling to Durham, North Carolina as the 2-seed in a Regional hosted by Duke.

D1: No. 12 national seed, Regional host
BA: Durham Regional 2-seed (hosted by No. 15 Duke)

Vanderbilt: 33-16 (11-13)

The Commodores have had an up-and-down 2024 season. The Vandy Boys will finish well above .500 overall, but the SEC mark is just 11-13 with two series to go.

Vanderbilt is not projected to be the host of an NCAA Regional.

D1: Charlottesville Regional 3-seed (hosted by No. 11 Virginia)
BA: Terre Haute Regional 2-seed (hosted by No. 13 Indiana State)

Alabama: 30-18 (10-14)

UA has just a 10-14 record in SEC play after dropping the Mississippi State series, but its No. 12 RPI has the Crimson Tide projected in the field of 64, opening with a 2-3 matchup with a Regional.

D1 is sticking with a trip to UNC, while BA has the Tide going out west.

D1: Chapel Hill Regional 2-seed (hosted by No. 6 North Carolina)
BA: Santa Barbara Regional 3-seed (hosted by No. 16 UC Santa Barbara)

Florida: 25-23 (10-14)

Last week, D1Baseball had Florida listed third among the Last Four In. The Gators have gone 2-2 since then, taking 1-of-3 from Tennessee and closing out its midweek slate with a 4-1 win over USF.

Baseball America, meanwhile, still considers UF one of the Last Four In at No. 61 overall in the field of 64.

Needing 3 more SEC regular-season wins, the Gators are a bubble team down the stretch.

D1: Durham Regional 3-seed (hosted by No. 13 Duke)
BA: Tallahassee Regional 3-seed (hosted by No. 7 Florida State)

LSU: 32-18 (9-15)

LSU stumbled out of the gate in SEC play, going 3-12 to drop its first 5 conference series. The Tigers, though, were determined to right the ship and defend their national championship in the NCAA Tournament.

Going 6-3 in the last 3 series, including 2-of-3 from Texas A&M, has done wonders for LSU’s postseason outlook. There’s still work to do, however, for the No. 35 RPI team. If the Tigers can complete the strong finish, they may sneak into the field of 64.

D1: First Four Out
BA: First Four Out, No. 67

What about Ole Miss?

Ole Miss is a notable omission from the latest projections. Like last week, D1Baseball’s latest projections do not include the Rebels in the top 68 (field of 64 and First Four Out).

Baseball America goes a step further in projecting the tournament with a Next Four Out. Last week, Ole Miss was No. 69 in BA’s projections, leading the Next Four Out list. Despite winning the series at Auburn, the Rebels did not make the cut for BA’s 72 teams in the picture to make the NCAA Tournament on Wednesday.

Ole Miss is currently No. 25 in RPI with a 25-22 overall record and 9-15 mark in conference play. If the Rebels can win their last two SEC series against Texas A&M and LSU, it would be hard for the selection committee to deny a 13-win SEC team.
