The SEC is loaded with freshmen who were stud recruits and other underclassmen who could leave early for the NFL, but here at Saturday Down South, we don’t want to overlook the talented seniors who stuck around for a fourth season and are excelling for their teams. Here are five of the top performances from seniors during the 12th week of the SEC football season.

DAK PRESCOTT AND BRANDON ALLEN

We’ll lump the quarterbacks from Saturday’s thrilling Mississippi State-Arkansas game together this week because their performances in the classic shootout will be remembered together for a long, long time. Prescott and Allen combined for more than 900 yards passing and 14 total touchdowns in the Bulldogs’ 51-50 victory. Prescott led Mississippi State to victory by completing 38 of 50 passes for 508 yards with 5 touchdowns and 1 interception. He also carried the ball 15 times for 46 yards and 2 touchdowns. Allen completed 30 of 43 passes for 406 yards and 7 touchdowns without an interception. He also drove the Razorbacks into position to kick a potential game-winning field goal in the final minute. The Bulldogs blocked the kick and Prescott came away the winner, but it was quite possibly the two best quarterbacking performances of the year.

JAKE GANUS

The Georgia linebacker is having a fine senior season after transferring from UAB, and he helped lead the Bulldogs in a defensive struggle versus Georgia Southern. Ganus finished 3rd on the team with 10 tackles, including 1 for a loss as the Bulldogs did a good job of slowing the Eagles’ tricky option attack. If only the Georgia offense had played as well, the Bulldogs might not have had to go to overtime to knock off the Sun Belt foe.

TRA CARSON

It’s been the year of the running back in the SEC, and because of that, Texas A&M’s big senior has been overshadowed a bit as the Aggies have slipped in the SEC West standings. But Carson has hardly been the problem, and he racked up another 100-yard rushing day on Saturday against Vanderbilt. Carson carried 22 times for 126 yards as A&M rolled past Vandy.

KENTRELL BROTHERS

The Missouri linebacker played his final game in Columbia and did what he’s been doing the entire season: rack up a huge number of tackles. Brothers once again led the Tigers with 12 tackles, 6 of them solo and 1 for a loss. He’s now recorded double-digit tackles in all but one game this season.
