Y-a-a-a-w-n...I didn't listen to the post-game "analysis/excuses" (I never do). Don't need talking heads to tell me what I just saw- Camera coverage during games is good enough now that I get the info from WATCHING games. I just enjoy the game when we win; am sad when we lose; & I know the truth will become apparent as the season progresses-analysists or not. Now... ,do any of you want to discuss guitars....?
I have to admit...that is a very bizarre use of LOTR & Hulk Hogan's ring music. Let's just forget we saw that & BEAT BAMA IN THEIR HOUSE...HOTTY TODDY, REBELS!
The boy definitely needs to stop drinking &get counseling for his attitude "malfunctions" (that have apparently resurfaced). Perhaps he needs to get the talk Eli got from Archie when he got into trouble in Oxford???
Ole Miss vs Alabama on Oct. 4 was the best Birthday Present I had this year!!! Just need a similar New Year's Eve present from Atlanta!!!!
Coach Freeze probably should give him #22 (or #26)...sure does remind me of Deuce-just a bit. Should be a great 1-2 punch along with Chad Kelly @ QB. ...Hell Yes, Damn Right..."
Y'know, if drunks could see videos, the next day, of how they acted (when drunk) , I'd wager that there would be a lot few drunks running around making asses of themselves.
First of all, I gotta say that this post generated a plethora of responses...most I've ever read thru, anyway. It doesn't matter if the fan is drunk, sober, redneck, "pecker-wood", student. alum or just plain ignorant jerk. This kind of behavior is totally unacceptable under any circumstance. Anyone who defends this behavior really deserves it in return. That being said, I'm sure that there is a lunatic fringe of NCAA fans, but the vast majority exhibit good sportsmanship & are a credit to their respective schools. Unfortunately, "fans" like that are present everywhere. I'd hate to see it in Oxford (we Rebels pride ourselves on hospitality & peaceful co-existence-even in The Grove!), but I'm sure it has happened there, too. I grew up in Louisiana...been "assaulted" by replays of Billy Cannon's punt return since it happened on Halloween '59, & was subjected to this kind of behavior in Tiger Stadium in '68 (as a student) & '71-in both cases perpetrated by adult alumni (or non matriculated Tiger fans)-but never by current students (they generally have too much class). {side note: I'm curious about the status of the UGA "fans" that participated in this poor behavior-students or alumni/fans???} Bad behavior/poor sportsmanship isn't confined to college football-this same kind of behavior was caught on camera @ the Cincinnati Bengals-New Orleans Saints game yesterday by (unfortunately) a Saints fan (who should be banished from the "Who-Dat Nation" for his rude behavior). I know this is NOT typical Saints fan behavior @ The Superdome (even for Falcons games - LOL). I would like to see home fans rally to condemn this kind of behavior when it happens (& @ the time it happens). Let's all make it our business to upgrade the collective sportsmanship of our fan bases...Let's foster "CLASS, not CRASS" behavior & make the SEC (& our fans) THE Role-Models for all fans to emulate !!!
That play was THE most painful thing I've watched since the Joe Theismann's injury (against the Giants)-actually it was more painful to watch since I am an Ole Miss Rebel For Life (OMRFL). I pray that Laquon fully recovers & has a great rehab so he can lead the Rebels to an even better season next year. Get well soon!!! HOTTY TODDY, Rebel!
Let's make it EZ... Have the Non-SEC teams compete in the playoff system & the winner can play the SEC Champion for the National Title. That gives all the Non-SEC schools an equal chance to compete for the National Championship.
So, "Ross Bjork @RossBjorkAD ", are you going to contact the governing body that oversees game officials to get an "Official" ruling to either uphold the Land Shark sign or make it (& and any other similar gestures) illegal? Also, is it possible that the official was not making a unilateral ruling on the legality of the gesture, but only warning that it is not be directed toward the other player, team or fans (but only as a gesture for the team & Rebel fans)?
If he did, it's definitely not cool. However, in this case "no harm, no foul". No damage was done & I'm sure he'll thing twice before it happens again...BTW, on behalf of the Rebel Nation, I apologize for that last TD. You can't fault him for scoring (it was a HUGE hole), but I wish we had gone into the Victory Formation instead.
Col. Rebel is the only "TRUE" Ole Miss mascot, not that ridiculous bear they shoved down our throats...
Where is your allegiance? Are you REALLY an SEC fan?
I didn't realize "showboating" was a legitimate violation of the taunting rule. The game is supposed to be fun & as long as the gesture isn't made over an opposing player or directed toward a particular player, it's no worse than players jumping & skipping off after a good play. The way they are doing the Fins Up sign is directed toward the fans & the Ole Miss bench, not @ the opposition team, player(s) or fans... & it is a tribute to a former player (Tony Fein). Is wearing #38 in honor of Chucky Mullins "showboating, too? What about wearing mourning numbers/bands on helmets/jerseys? Where is the line to be drawn? Appears to be a bit nebulous when you really examine it, now doesn't it? Next thing you know, it'll be a penalty for the fans to cheer too loudly after a good play or score (remember the ill-fated "crowd noise" rule in the NFL-that didn't last too long-Thanks Boomer). How do we complain about it to the conference/"officials knee-jerk rules inventors"? IT'S A GAME & is supposed to be fun. Let the kids express themselves. As long as it isn't done in a hurtful way, where's the harm?
Also, to coach Freeze-PLEASE...go back to the dark blue helmets. They look MUCH better than the old school powder blue.
This whole play was FUBAR. 1): the return man was down & got up & continued to run (which led kickers to believe play was still live (assuming no whistle was blown-reactions of both teams shows no whistle or unheard whistle),-should have drawn a flag. 2): returner was "suplexed" (ala Drew Brees last week), definitely unnecessary roughness. 3): punches were obviously thrown by BOTH team's players, which should have resulted in unsportsmanlike conduct on BOTH teams. Flags on BOTH teams. All of this should have resulted in offsetting penalties on the fights & either offsetting or enforcement of the most major penalty on the play. This is an excellent reason for officials to review melees like this to make sure the correct players are disciplined (not in wrong place; @ wrong time players). The whole deal was a total SNAFU...& to all the MSU haters..."...let he who is without sin cast the first stone!" Get your own house in order. Just because someone else is guilty doesn't excuse the actions of your own team members...Do you know Shutda?
