Other than a Championship Rematch game, the 2016 season is in the books, and it’s time for some self-reflection.

As we turn specifically to the SEC East, things are not well. Interestingly, the gap between the SEC East and West arguably narrowed this season, but not for the reasons we had hoped. Instead of the SEC East catching up, the SEC West essentially retreated. Yep, other than Alabama, we’ve got plenty of gripes aimed at the SEC.

For today, we’ll focus on the SEC East (don’t worry, SEC West, you’re next).

Here are 20 one-liners to sum up the SEC East this past season:

Didn’t Florida hire Jim McElwain to fix the quarterback struggles since Tebow left?

What happens when Muschamp’s defensive talent is gone (also known as the 2017 season)?

Will Florida fans be suicidal if Luke Del Rio is the starter for the 2017 opener?

I don’t like to poke at family tributes, but is Jim McElwain’s stick-of-gum postgame ritual the weirdest thing you saw this year?

Dare I say it? Is Jacob Eason overrated?

I can already see it. Georgia’s offseason hype will look a lot like Tennessee’s last year.

Is it too early to begin labeling Kirby Smart: “Will Muschamp 2.0?”

Speaking of Tennessee, I’m shocked at how well the fans are taking the disaster that was the 2016 football season.

No, the injuries aren’t why your season was a disaster.

There’s no way Butch Jones is the Tennessee coach a year from now, right?

We’ve beaten the “Champions of Life” thing to death, but I don’t think the hilarity of the Week 2 “Bristol World Championship” got nearly enough play.

Who’s excited to watch Drew Lock rack up a bunch of yardage against crappy teams in 2017?

What’s the name of the Mizzou head coach again?

Mike Slive was smart enough to put in a reversal clause into the agreement that added Missouri to the SEC, right?

Boy, Vanderbilt really took advantage of that bowl appearance, didn’t they?

Kentucky sticking it to Louisville was one of the highlights of November.

But then they went and gave Paul Johnson a reason to run his mouth come bowl season.

I think it’s time to tell South Carolina fans that six wins in the bad SEC East is not really an accomplishment worth celebrating.

Or maybe Will Muschamp’s stock was lower than we thought entering 2016.

I know it’s unthinkable, but it’s possible the SEC East is worse in 2017 than it was in 2016.

Next up, the SEC West. Don’t get too upset and argumentative in the comments.

Rather than complain, why don’t you supply us with your own one-liners? The best one will get some recognition.
