Alternate uni-verse: Tennessee looks great in smokey greys (and plays great, too)
Week 4 of the 2016 college football season provided another glimpse at uniforms. Some programs unveiled new ones. Others modified old ones.
Here’s a look at the good, the bland and the downright ugly from Week 4.
The Good
Oregon

Every week we include Oregon because it manages to top itself. This uniform was no exception. The Ducks actually look like their mascot, which is cool. But they lost to Colorado, which isn’t.
Of course, not everybody is a fan.
SHOCKING that the stupid Oregon uniforms didn't help against Colorado

We knew Tennessee was going to rock its “Smokey Grey” uniforms for a few days, but that didn’t make it any less exciting. Plus, the Vols earned their biggest win under head coach Butch Jones by ending Florida’s 11-game winning streak.

Well, at least Florida looked good in a losing effort. The all-white uniform looked very clean, especially with the matching cleats and new helmet.
Northwestern

When you think of intimidating programs, Northwestern doesn’t exactly come to mind. However, these uniforms could change that. This is tough with a capital “T.” Alas, Northwestern lost, too.
Iowa State

What a difference a week makes. Or perhaps its just that Iowa State’s home unis are awesome, while its road uniform looks like a Ronald McDonald costume. Either way, these are a huge improvement from last week’s dreads.
Arizona

Arizona is another team that has appeared as both a good and ugly uniform selection. But man, do these look cool. That midnight blue is just plain awesome looking.
Virginia Tech

Another appearance for Virginia Tech, which continues to try new things with its uniforms. That rest of the uniform is keeping with tradition, but it’s really the helmets that stand out.
The Bland
Georgia Tech

Boring. Just plain boring. These look like the most generic uniforms possible. There’s just something about a mostly white uniform with gold that is dull looking.
Oklahoma State

When I look at these uniforms all I can think of is the great Vince McMahon yelling, “This … is … the X-F-L!” That’s what these look like, XFL uniforms. Couldn’t you just see the name “He Hate Me” on the back?
The Ugly
Syracuse
SU football uniforms are ugly, scholarship chases are fine (readers emails) https://t.co/FVg5IyITrl pic.twitter.com/IsLiss4Hgh

Ugh. These again. What are you thinking, Syracuse? It’s like these unis are almost cool, but are more ugly than anything. They’re murder on your retinas and just look ridiculous. This isn’t the first and certainly won’t be the last time these unis are referred to as the ugliest of the week, as long as the Orange keep wearing them.
