Text messages have overtaken all other forms of communication. It’s our favorite way to socialize with friends, family, and loved ones. And within the text and instant messaging medium, the use of emojis to convey how we feel or what we mean has become more and more common.

For those who are not familiar with emojis, they are essentially little pictures that can be included or used in place of text to illustrate what we mean. The most popular emojis are emoticons, faces in a wide range of expressions and emotions. The funniest thing about emojis is the more you see them being used, the more you realize that a little yellow face really can capture how you feel far more accurately than words can.

With this idea in mind, we’ve decided to use emojis to summarize how fans felt about each SEC team’s regular season. For each, we used three emojis – one to represent the beginning, one for the middle, and one for end.

Who knows, you may even have used these very same emojis while you were experiencing the games yourself.

ALABAMA CRIMSON TIDE

Beginning, middle, end:😳😎😎
Just three weeks into the season, Alabama was sent sprawling by Ole Miss. While the loss was unexpected, Alabama recovered well and ended up winning the rest of its games, usually by hefty margins. Alabama finishes the regular season with the best record in the SEC at 11-1, and is headed to Atlanta for the SEC Championship Game.

ARKANSAS RAZORBACKS

😫😀😏
The Razorbacks looked like an intimidating bunch until they lost to Toledo. Then they lost again to Texas Tech. Losing to two nonconference opponents, followed by a loss to Texas A&M, caused lots of consternation in Arkansas. But improvement started in the middle of the season and continued to the end. The Razorbacks ended up finishing up the season feeling smug after huge victories against Auburn, Ole Miss and LSU.

AUBURN TIGERS

😟😰😪
Auburn’s season started out with cause for concern after the Tigers were barely able to beat Louisville and Jacksonville State. Things were blown open completely after the big loss to LSU during Week 3. After that, all fans could do was watch Auburn’s tumble from the top as they lost to anyone who was not a nonconference foe and not Kentucky. Finally, with a tremendous four-overtime effort against Arkansas, the Tigers seemed to find their footing again and finished the last four games 2-2. Fans are glad the season is finally over.

FLORIDA GATORS

😋😍😠
The Gators’ season started off as something out of their fans’ wildest dreams. The offense clicked, the defense was on fire and Florida just kept winning. During the first few weeks, no one could dare to believe the success, but after Florida destroyed Ole Miss 38-10, the joy in Gainesville was unbridled. After quarterback Will Grier’s suspension, however, offensive production started to decline and it grew progressively worse as the season continued. Florida’s performance, or lack thereof, against Florida State was a culmination of that ineptitude. After all that early success, Gator fans are frustrated and angry with how the season has ended.

GEORGIA BULLDOGS

😏😤😪
As the SEC East favorite once again, Georgia started out with four straight wins thanks to having a healthy Nick Chubb. Things were looking good, and even a tough loss to Alabama could be accepted as long as the Bulldogs kept winning. But they didn’t. After a tough loss to Tennessee, Georgia flopped against rival Florida 27-3 and fans were enraged with Mark Richt. Even though the Bulldogs finished out the season with four wins and ended the season at 9-3, it still felt like a disappointment and the university was acutely aware of that. Richt was let go on Sunday.

KENTUCKY WILDCATS

😉😕😔
Everything looked like sunshine for Mark Stoops and his Wildcats at the beginning of the season. Hefty expectations were placed on this team’s shoulders, with the biggest goals being getting bowl eligible and finally ending its long losing streak against Florida. Florida won a close game during Week 3, but at that point the season was still young. But inconsistent play on offense and other problems sent Kentucky down a losing slide that started in Week 7 and didn’t end until Week 11. During the final game of the regular season – and Kentucky’s final chance at bowl eligibility – the Wildcats jumped out to a three-touchdown lead and looked capable of achieving their ultimate goal. But even then Kentucky fell short, losing to Louisville and ending their season at 5-7, one win away from that elusive bowl game.

LSU TIGERS

☺️☺️😳
Life was good in Baton Rouge for the majority of the 2015 season. LSU, thanks in large part to Leonard Fournette, raked in the wins all the way until Week 10. That was when the Tigers had to go up against the Crimson Tide and were thoroughly trounced. As if that blow wasn’t enough, LSU proceeded to lose to Arkansas and Ole Miss. For having such a perfect season for most of the year, many LSU fans are still be shocked to finished with an 8-3 record.

MISSISSIPPI STATE BULLDOGS

😀😀😐
While the Bulldogs were never able to get on a long winning streak, their overall season wasn’t all that bad.  In a mostly down year for quarterbacks in the SEC, Dak Prescott stood out for his tremendous athletic ability and leadership. The Bulldogs also didn’t finish strong, going 2-2 during its last four games, with losses to Alabama and Ole Miss.

MISSOURI TIGERS

😕😖😢
Things started out shaky at Missouri and only grew shakier. While the defense provided some sparks, the offense struggled mightily and was unable to generate anything more than field goals for three weeks in a row. The tough season took a turn for the worst when Gary Pinkel announced he would be retiring at the end of the season.

OLE MISS REBELS

😎😒😐
The Rebels had a complicated season. They started out guns blazing and became one of the highest scoring teams in the conference, scoring more than 70 points two week ago and then beating Alabama convincingly in Tuscaloosa. But their dream season came to a skidding halt when they lost to Florida during the fifth week of the season and then dropped a road game to Memphis two weeks later. They finished the season strong, with nice wins over LSU and Mississippi State, but barely missed out on a trip to Atlanta when Alabama hung on against Auburn.

SOUTH CAROLINA GAMECOCKS

😣😣😣
Finishing last in the SEC East, the Gamecocks had an ugly season. They only won three games all year, over Vanderbilt and nonconference foes North Carolina (impressive) and UCF (not at all impressive). Many of the losses were close, but there was still a lot of suffering in Columbia all season long. Saying goodbye to Steve Spurrier was a shock, too. It won’t be the same without him around.

TENNESSEE VOLUNTEERS

😑😩😐
Much like several other teams, Butch Jones and his squad had great expectations coming into the season. However, blowing fourth-quarter leads prevented Tennessee from winning several high-profile games that could have propelled them high in the national rankings. By the end of Week 7, the Volunteers sat at a dismal 3-4 record, but two of those losses were to Oklahoma and Alabama, two likely playoff teams. Fortunately, Tennessee’s schedule loosened up and it was able to peel off five wins in a row. While the year was disappointing as a whole, there is a lot of talent on display in Knoxville and the future is bright.

TEXAS A&M AGGIES

😊😕😕
The Aggies started out strong, opening their season with a five-game win streak that included a high-profile win over Arizona State. Then A&M lost to Alabama and Ole Miss, which was predictable but still painful. The Aggies couldn’t find a steady solution at quarterback during the back half of the season, and Kevin Sumlin struggled to settle on just one choice. Texas A&M’s losses to Auburn and LSU towards the end of the season could have been avoided and left fans in a glum mood.

VANDERBILT COMMODORES

😞😕😪
No one likes starting out a season with a loss, but that’s what Vanderbilt did and things did not get much better as time went on. The Commodores began dismally, with only one win among their first four games. A little glimmer of hope emerged after they beat Missouri, and the defense showed itself to be a force to be reckoned with, but it was never enough. They held Florida to just nine points and were able to beat Kentucky but really played poorly in its last two games, getting shut out 25-0 by Texas A&M and giving up 53 points to Tennessee.
