Five SEC players were named to Bruce Feldman’s list of the Top 20 “Freaks” in college football for Fox Sports Wednesday. Texas A&M’s Myles Garrett topped the list after leading the SEC with 12.5 sacks, 19.5 tackles for loss and five forced fumbles despite facing double teams throughout his sophomore season.

Other SEC players included were LSU’s Leonard Fournette (No. 3), Mississippi State’s Brandon Bryant (No. 8), Alabama’s Daron Payne (No. 11) and Florida’s Jarrad Davis (No. 20).

Fournette enters his third season in Baton Rogue ranked No. 4 in LSU history for rushing yards and set the school single-season record with 1,953 to go along with 22 touchdowns in 2015. Feldman credited the junior back for squatting 528 pounds and cleaning 352.

Bryant led all freshmen defensive backs with 63 tackles in 2015. He also forced four turnovers on three interceptions and one caused fumble. Feldman credited him for his 385 bench press, 500-pound squat and 600-pound deadlift.

Payne started several games as a true freshman on Alabama’s top-ranked defense. At 6-foot-2, 320 pounds, he ran a surprisingly fast 4.93 40-yard dash and has lost weight entering his sophomore campaign, according to Nick Saban.

Davis has received high praise from Florida linebackers coach Randy Shannon for having the competitiveness of Jon Vilma, the athleticism of Jon Beason and the football knowledge of Ray Lewis, according to Feldman. The 6-foot-2, 240-pound linebacker ran a 40-yard dash in the mid-4.5s and lifted 318 pounds in the clean and jerk, while also recording 98 tackles, including 11 for loss in 2015.
