I’ll say this lightly.

Lee Corso has been featured on every episode of College GameDay since the show’s inception in 1987. He’s one of the seminal figures in college football broadcasting. He’s beloved across the country. His signature headgear picks remain a staple of ESPN’s Saturday mornings.

Still, the man is 80 years old. He suffered a stroke in 2009, and has undergone extensive speech therapy. Sometimes he slurs his words. And the consensus public opinion is that he’s just not as sharp as he used to be.

His record on 2015 headgear picks offers concrete evidence to his “detractors,” if you can call them that. Including yesterday’s wrong pick of Oklahoma State over Oklahoma, Corso is 3-10 this season.

That’s his first losing season since 2002. It’s also by far the most losses he’s taken on headgear picks in a single season — ever.

Then again, the point of his picks never was nerdy accuracy. And seeing him fire off round after round of a fake shotgun while donning a Cowboys mascot head was one of the best GameDay moments of the 2015 season, accuracy be damned.
