Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith will be the newest member of the College Football Playoff selection committee, according to a report from ESPN.

He will replace Wisconsin AD Barry Alvarez, whose term expired this past season. The CFP is expected to announce replacements for Bobby Johnson and Condoleezza Rice by the end of January, as well.

Smith has been the Buckeyes’ athletic director since 2005. He spent five seasons on the NCAA men’s basketball committee and served as its chair for the 2010-11 academic year.
