The two big prizes at linebacker as it relates to Southeastern Conference football recruiting in the 2016 cycle both reside in the state of Alabama and both are undecided.

Ben Davis (Gordo, Ala.) and Lyndell Mack Wilson (Montgomery, Ala./Carver), both ranked No. 1 nationally at inside and outside linebacker respectively according to 247Sports Composite rankings, remain uncommitted at this time. Both appear bound for some SEC program, so they will be on this list eventually.

For now, however, the top five current SEC linebacker commits appear to be a bit light compared to some other cycles. These are five good prospects, but not the best of the best necessarily in terms of national rankings.

1. Erick Fowler, LSU

Fowler, a 6-foot-1, 232-pound outside linebacker prospect from Manor, Texas, is an excellent Lone Star State get for the Tigers. Fowler is athletic and versatile enough to play any linebacker spot on the field long term. He’s the fifth-ranked outside linebacker prospect in the 2016 cycle nationally per 247Sports Composite rankings and is a U.S. Army All-American.

2. Daniel Bituli, Tennessee

Years from now you will be able to trace the rebirth of the Vols football program to the significant spike in high-level in-state talent. Bituli, a 6-foot-4, 230-pounder from Nashville Christian School, is one of the latest examples of Volunteer State talent flocking to Knoxville to play for the Volunteers. Bituli has outstanding athletic upside for a prospect his size and will only continue to reach his ceiling once he is a part of a college program.

3. David Luafatasaga, Ole Miss

This 6-foot-3, 225-pound Hawaii native will head to Oxford via Arizona Western Junior College and could make an instant impact for the Rebels. In fact, the chance of him making an instant impact for Ole Miss on defense is more likely than not given what he brings to the table from a size/athleticism standpoint. This may be one of the most undervalued commits in the entire SEC this cycle and certainly has been overshadowed within the Ole Miss class by five-star quarterback Shea Patterson and five-star offensive tackle Greg Little, but this guy can flat-out play and will see the field early barring something unforeseen.

4. Jaleel Laguins, Georgia

Laguins, a U.S. Army All-American from close-to-Athens Oconee County High in Watkinsville, Ga., is an athletic striker who can blitz off the edge who is not afraid to hit you. One can clearly see how good this 6-foot-2, 216-pounder can be in time — perhaps after he adds 15 to 20 pounds to his frame. Laguins is a versatile prospect who could play a number of different linebacker spots in Georgia’s new defensive scheme.

5. Jeremiah Moon, Florida

The 6-foot-4, 205-pound Moon has to get bigger and add muscle, but once he does look out. The Hoover, Ala., product is an intriguing steal out of that state for the Gators. Moon is the No. 22 outside linebacker prospect in the 2016 cycle per 247Sports Composite rankings, but could seriously out-play that during his career in Gainesville.
