Obviously, any time you play the No. 1 team in the country, things won’t be easy.

But, when LSU QB Danny Etling becomes the sixth Tiger quarterback to take on the Alabama defense in the last seven years, history will be working against him.

With the exception of Zach Mettenberger, who threw for 298 yards in 2012 in a 21-17 loss and 241 yards in a 38-17 loss in 2013, LSU quarterbacks have struggled against the Crimson Tide:

Three quarterbacks on this list — Jarrett Lee (the only Tiger quarterback to beat the Tide, notably), Jordan Jefferson and Anthony Jennings — finished with less than 100 passing yards.

With DB Eddie Jackson out for the rest of the season, Etling might have an easier time throwing against the Crimson Tide. When LSU hosts Alabama on Nov. 5, the Tigers will certainly need a big performance from the Purdue transfer if they want to pull off the upset.
