Vanderbilt coach Derek Mason is enjoying life these days.

His Commodores are going bowling for the first time since 2013 after going 6-6 this season.

On Tuesday, Mason took a break from bowl preparations to take in a Nashville Predators hockey game:

Mason was a good luck charm for the Preds, who defeated the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday night in Nashville.

This year’s bowl game will be the first bowl appearance for the Commodores since he took over for now-Penn State coach James Franklin following the 2013 season.

Vanderbilt will face NC State in the Independence Bowl on Monday, Dec. 26. The game kicks off at 4 p.m. Central time and can be seen on ESPN2.
